Severe eczema in baby - help please...

What else can I do? She won't sleep for longer than an hour at a time because she is itchy. I am bathing her and applying cetaphil twice a day. The dr gave me some stronger steroid cream but I used it for three days and she got little lines in her breakouts - like they were striped or something and developed a little rash on her face so I stopped using it. Now I am just moisturizing and doing a little 1% hydrocortisone on the itchiest parts. I am vegetarian without dairy so this isn't a milk reaction. I do eat eggs and lots of almonds, occasionally peanuts. Nuts are my source of protein, I don't want to cut them out entirely but I might just to see if it helps. I also don't eat wheat or soy. What am I missing here? I dress her in cotton except some of her cloth dipes are fleece but she isn't affected in that area. Please, any advice from someone? She is miserable.

My DD's eczema was from eggs. At the time her skin got bad, i knew that she was allergic to dairy, peanut and nuts. Once I pulled egg from my diet (she never really ate them) her skin improved. There are other veg. mamas on the allergy board that have had to deal with this issue.

My ds gets it from my eating ANY type of seafood be it tuna, salmon, walleye, shrimp or crab (all I've tried). I've been off egg, dairy, soy & all nuts and he has only gotten the rash when I've had fish. It goes away within a week or two depending on how much I've eaten.
I would only eliminate one item at a time to see if you can pinpoint it quicker. DS reacts to nuts but not to peanuts (crying, gassy, spitty) and ds1 reacted to odd things like sunflower anything and strawberries. So, you may be really watching what you eat and she may react to something that isn't typical. If you're eating a lot of almonds maybe cut those first.
Sorry this is long, kind of thinking while I type. I hope you figure it out for both your sake.

On the allergy forum, I'd guess that eggs & corn are the two most common causes of eczema.

If you do cut nuts, definitely watch your protein intake, one problem with elimination diets is that you can end up deficient in something pretty quickly, particularly if you already avoid certain foods before you start.
