did daycare mess up your kiddos naps???

so here's where i'm coming from.
#1) sleep for my kiddo is super important to me. i know it's crucial for development and having worked at daycare/schools and seen how kids sleep less than they do at home, i often wonder what damage this is doing to our kids. sleep deprivation has the same symptoms as ADD and if we are depriving our kids of a little bit of sleep everyday then what is it doing long-term?

#2) i was SAH but it was kind of driving me nuts and i felt like working part-time out of the home would be better for both of us...that we would have a better and more productive afternoon if i worked a little bit in the mornings. i didn't financially have to go back to work. i really don't make that much money.

so anyway, i now teach preschool in the mornings and dd (13 months) is at the same school that i teach at. it really is a great situation in that regard.
however, while at home she takes a morning and afternoon nap, at school they don't take the morning nap.
i was already feeling a little guilty about this but now i'm really starting to wonder since this weekend she's had a really tough time going down for her morning nap. she could just be outgrowing it but she is also screaming tired so i don't think this is the case.

it could just be an off weekend or could daycare be "training" that morning nap out of her????
a friend of mine is having a similar issue with her son but he is closer to 18 months so he might have just naturally dropped the am nap.

ugh. the momma guilt is mounting.

I'm with you on the sleep thing!

My DD dropped her morning nap around 13-14 months old. It's certainly not out of the realm to not take one at that age IF your child doesn't need it anymore.

I would guess that if your DD gets in the habit of not taking a morning nap all week long, you kiss that nap goodbye on the weekends too. She may simply get into a habit of taking an earlier and longer afternoon nap instead.

I know my dd tends to resist sleep if she is overtired. But also they do start to resist sleep in general starting at around one year (or even earlier).

DD dropped her 2nd nap at 10 months but slept 12 hours overnight and then 2-3 hours in the middle of the day. She began daycare a couple of days a week at 1 year.

Currently (just tyurned 2) she naps at daycare but is erratic at home - she sleeps better at daycare than here.

I don't worry if she gets enough sleep anymore (and I am a total sleep freak - I think enough sleep is extremely important) because she gets 12 hours overnight and then another 2-3 most days.
