Bamboo stuffing for dolls.......

Hi!
I want to make my kiddos waldorf dolls for Christmas and I'm wondering if any of you have used Bamboo stuffing? I love the way it feels and on the package it says it stuffs very hard, similar to cotton, so it's ideal for dolls and toys. I'd hate to use it and then be unhappy with the long-term results of the dolls.

I've used wool for dolls and poly-fil before, and I'm hoping this will be a bit cheaper than the wool and nicer than the poly. Any experience with it?

I'm making my first doll with wool stuffing and we'll see how that goes. I have used the bamboo stuffing for other animals and crafts. I love the bamboo stuffing. I do feel like it takes a lot to stuff down and make the doll or animal feel full. I'll see if the wool is similar in my next project. It's sooo much nicer than the poly-fil and if you have a Jo-ann's you can catch it on sale and it's great. Hope that helps.

I used a combo of bamboo stuffing and bamboo batting because I didn't want to use wool for humane reasons.  It worked like a charm!  I can't compare it to working with wool, but I imagine it was a bit more slippery.  I was sure to wind the batting for the head very tight and to make the limb-stuffing-logs as tight as possible.  After three years of hard use I just gave my son's Waldorf doll a once-over today - a couple of the seams needed attention and the limbs had condensed a touch and were improved by a bit of massaging.  The hair had gotten pretty gnarly with dog hair, etc., but the head/face were almost exactly as they were when I gave the doll to him for his second birthday.  It still has a very nice consistency, too.  Bamboo has proven itself to me for sure!

Thank you for sharing your experience with the bamboo. kiss.gif

I've been using it for other toys and it stuffs very hard. I would think for a doll that would be a good thing. For a pillow, not so much.
