For those that went overdue- did u induce or wait it out? - Page 2

All of my babies except #3 have come before their EDD ... #3, for some reason, was 11 days late. In the middle of the hottest July on record. Gah.

Still, I waited it out, and she came when she was good and ready.

I was planning on waiting, but decided to go with a membrane sweep. Contractions started half an hour later and my baby was born about 26 hours later. I was either 41 or 42 weeks at the time.

Always wait it out, its perfectly safe to go to 42 weeks +, as long as you both are healthy.
They will usually come on their own in their own time. It's only our minds that become impatient and/or fearful.

My WF asked me if I wanted to do that last week on my DD. I said no... I'm glad I said no, but sometimes I do wish I would have said yes so baby would maybe come. But I'm still *only* 3 days over due, so hopefuly soon

I'd refuse induction of any kind without medical indication prior to 43 weeks. I think that, health permitting, it's the right of a baby to choose his own birthday, because I believe that babies trigger labor at exactly the right time for them.

That being said, I was born all on my own right around 37 weeks and I'm hoping my babies follow suit

I agree with that too... I would think that labor would be better/easier to when it comes naturally and when truly ready rather than when forced or planned.

No. My dd was August 20th, she came Sept 1st.

I had her with a midwife who wasn't even in the state until Sept.... The b/up dr (whom I liked) did put some pressure on me but I refused by not making any further appointments, lol.

It was a long two weeks, but I swam a lot, kept busy and just had faith that my body would know what to do. It did.

I believe that induction is one of the most over-used interventions out there. Sure, there are risk factors when being 'overdue' but there are also serious risks with induction... I'm more worried about the latter.
