Outgrowing FF

When again does a child outgrow a forward facing car seat? Was it when their shoulders are past the top slot or was it when their ears reached the top of the car seat? I don't quite remember and my husband was asking me which it was.

Either one means they have outgrown it. Or if they outgrow the weight limit.

Radian allows shoulder to be up to 1" above the top slot, but all other seats, when they are above it they are too big

Either. Or when the child weighs more than the seat is rated for.

I believe most kids outgrow harness height first.

ETA: jinx!

Thanks! One of DH's co-workers was asking him about it so he asked me and Im spacing. I knew the weight limit issue but I couldn't remember the height. Ill pass it to him so he can pass it along.
