Do toddlers nurse with next to no milk?

I am nursing my 2.5m dd2 and my milk never came back up after my last period. She doesn't seem to mind (I do get full after several hours but I am almost positive my supply is still low compared to the normal, but it isn't like I have NO milk yk) Anyways. She is a frequent nurser still, is this just the normal process as they get older that you don't have copious amounts of milk? I don't know if I should work to get my supply back up at this point in the game. I want her to choose when she weans, but I always though nursing was supply and demand but that is not the case anymore.

Any insight would be helpful

PS. I am not pg, checked that

Often for toddlers, nursing has nothing to do with milk. The milk is nice, the cuddle time is better. My DD is nursing despite my very low supply due to pregnancy.

She doesn't seem to mind, aside from mommy saying, "Mommy has had enough. We can drink milk later."

It can take a week or more for your daughter to bring your supply up, but I would let her decide if she "needs" more milk. Let her nurse when she wants, and her "demand" will create the supply she wants.

Thank you, that is a relief to hear.

My milk supply is SUPER low right now, I think he's lucky if he gets an ounce in 10minutes, when he used to get 5-6in that time! (I went to Haiti for a week and couldn't pump while I was there, so my milk went away )

He still loves to nurse, no sign of him stopping anytime soon!!

Mine was very low during pregnancy and my daughter kept nursing. I think she would nurse even if there was no milk. I compare it to the weaned toddlers we know who still need/want their pacifiers... a lot of toddlers have a strong need to suck for comfort.

i have been nursing mine with NO milk for the past 5 years. its not about nutrition but 'emotional therapy' in her case.
