Having recently discovered that long grain brown rice isn't the only kind of rice in existence (there are dozens of species of rice!!) I am wondering which might be the most nutrition-packed? Red, black, brown, jasmine etc......

I pulled out my little buying in bulk recipes, nutrition and storage book. They only list 8 types of rice (Basmati, medium garin brown, short grain brown, sweet brown, long grain brown, jasmine, kalijira and wild rice).

The serving size for these is 1/4 cup uncooked rice.

The first 4 varieties are all the same nutritionally: Basmati, medium grain brown, short grain brown, and sweet brown and have 120 calories, 8g protein, 0g fat, 21g carbs, 0mg sodium and 8g fiber.

Long grain brown has 200 calories, 4g protein, 1g fat, 44g carbs, 3mg sodium and 3.1g fiber

Jasmine (white or brown) has 105 calories, 2.5g protein, .3g fat, 23g carbs, 10mg sodium and .5g fiber

Kalijira rice (white) has 150 calories, 5g protein, 0g fat, 42g carbs, 0mg sodium and 0g fiber

Wild and brown rice has 148 calories, 3.6g protein, 1g fat, 30g carbs, 0mg sodium and 1.5g fiber

I love the native american style rices, I don't know what strain it is, I guess a brown or wild rice. The flavor is great!

I just bought 25 pounds of lundberg short grain brown rice a few weeks ago. After looking at the nutritional information I'm even happier with that choice.
