Felt pretty good today

I was out with my kids today at the park, with DS in an ergo. He started getting hungry so as I was pushing DD on the swing I moved my shirt and latched him on. A minute or so later a woman came over with her husband holding a small baby.

She asked if I was nursing and when I said I was she turned around and said "I told you!" to her husband. He wanted her to use a cover when nursing in public so no one would see anything . When they saw me latch on DS and continue on with DD she said I was nursing discreetly without a cover and how much more obvious it would have been to see what I was doing if I was fussing with a blanket. He said there was no way I was nursing so she came over to ask.

Seeing me feed DS convinced him you can nurse in public without covers or blankets without flashing the world and he promised to stop pestering her. Then she asked me to show her how to feed in a carrier.

I was pretty happy that I was able to show her AND her husband something new.

so impressed you can nurse in an ergo - how old is your ds? mine is 6 months and i don't know where to start!

He's 7 months. I've been doing it for a few months though. Sometimes I have to move the shoulder strap over slightly to get him over but usually he just leans over, rests his head on the strap and latches on. Took some practice getting him on but he is keen to nurse as much as possible so he didn't mind the extra sessions.

When I nurse in a carrier (which isn't all that often) I also usually have to loosen the shoulder straps a bit to lower my DD and get her to the correct height.

haha, i didn't think it would be possible to feed comfortably in a carrier either, but if my 8 month old dd is interested enough (and she usually is!) she is happy to do some extra contortions to get milk!

i'm usually using a mei tai, so i can loosen the top straps a bit if she's tied high, pull my shirt aside, and she does the rest of the work to lean over and latch on.

that's awesome that she came over and asked you! i doubt that anyone has ever even realized i'm nursing.

i nurse my 2 month old in the ergo, and i love how discreet it is. people always come over to look at the new baby in a carrier and its so funny to see their reaction when they realize im breastfeeding lol

im glad you could help that women
