Comfy (trainer) bras for pre-teen? Suggestions?

I think Dd1 could start wearing a bra. Probably just a "trainer" type or something (just little breast buds, but they're sort of visible in a thin t-shirt.)

Any super comfy suggestions? Something 100% cotton, no itchy straps, etc.

Try Target for something inexpensive and simple. I don't love Justice, but my dd has liked some of their bras. Look on-line. They are having a sale now, I believe.

Barely There makes little bralets - something like an undershirt with a band around the ribcage. My daughter wore them and wouldn't wear anything else. Comfortable, and looked like a bra (she was a late developer), but didn't have those itchy hooks. Lots of girls wore sports bras too, when they were just getting used to the idea of a bra.

Justice...they are pricey but they last AND she was way more comfortable trying on sizes, picking one out there then in other places. I think because the chance of boys seeing or whatever is so much smaller.

At that point my dd mostly liked wearing little sports bras. I think I also did get her some little cotton ones from the girls section at Target.

Ooooo, I've always liked Barely There - I didn't realize they made girls' bras. Where would I find them? A dept. store?

Justice bugs me...it's so glittery and....I don't know.

Thanks for the tips!

My daughter really likes the camisole type tops and wears then instead of a bra under her clothes.

hysterical - I guess there aren't that many options. My dd has barely there (2), camis w/shelf bras (4) and a couple from Justice that my mom bought her (too pricy for me!). I found the barely there's at Marshalls for cheapcheap. The cami's we've found on clearance at a variety of stores. she likes the ones w/lacy tops, that show under another t'shirt kind of thing. Good luck!

I was going to suggest those as well. JCpenny's carries them as well. They are basically a cut off (at ribcage) undershirt. I helped a friend look for some for her DD and they seemed to carry some pretty basic styles in cotton and they were pretty affordable (I think the most was 12.99)

I found the best selection of bras for her!! Kohl's! They had a ton, and none of them were sassy/glittery/flashy - just all cotton, mild patterns/colors, some pull over some with clasps. And they were really affordable. I got Dd this 3 pack of Maidenforms for $7.50.

Here's their current selection of bras for young girls.

DD had been wearing the small bras from Target, but got a couple of camis (from Aeropostale ) for back to school and loves them. I'll get her a couple more for her birthday. She shifts between the two, but I like that the camis provide a little bit of warmth, too.

Dd2 (who will be 8 in January and has ZERO need for a bra) really wants one now that her big sister has some. Maybe a camisole would suffice....

We bought dd two kinds in the more sports bra style. Both came in 3 packs. Straps on both kinds seem non-itchy.

The first set was from Target- Xhilaration brand. It says 95% cotton / 5% spandex. The material is a single layer and very thin. The straps are adjustable. One has a pattern and two were solid color. It seems like they want to ride up at the bottom as dd moves and the straps always slip.

The second set is Fruit of the Loom brand. That is also 95% cotton /5% spandex. No adjustable straps but it hasn't been a problem. A little more coverage and a double layer of fabric in the front. Stays in place as dd moves. Solid colors.

When I got my first bra, my sister who was in 2nd grade (and was pretty flat until she was nursing her own kids) wanted one. She offered to stop sucking her thumb if my mom would get her one!
