Lost our IEP...now what?

I am happy she is doing well, but sad to lose the IEP. At our IEP meeting they said she has met all her goals.

Without an IEP she lose free transportation to pre-k. We are a one car family and at this point I will not be able to get her to school.

Tomorrow might be her last day. She is having surgery on Thursday and wouldn't be able to attend school for the next month anyway.

Now what?

Gosh, it's a mixed blessing huh? But congratulations on losing the IEP. That's just all kinds of awesome.

Does the school offer any kind of school bus service for low income kids or kids who live far away? I'm just thinking out loud here. In the alternative, could she get a ride with another child who attends the school?

We lost our IEP this year too....it was a time of mixed emotions.

90% happy and 10% worried.

Are you looking at a 504??? What do they do to accommodate her needs in PreK (bathroom issues, mobility issues?)?

A 504 could allow for transportation and/ or any other things that were needed (missing school etc.)

Does the school know you of your transportation problem?? They may choose to bus her anyhow if it means losing her as a student ( and losing PreK funding).

One of my DDs will go on a 504 next year for toileting ( she is not potty trained at age 5 due to a medical issue, but academically on par---so no IEP).

Other DD *may* if her sensory needs get too overwhelming at all day K.
