For those with wheelchairs...

Have you had any experience flying with a child with a wheelchair? If so what was it like? Specifically I am worried about transporting the very expensive specialty wheelchair that does not fold like a regular wheelchair.

I don't personally have experience with this but just flew yesterday with a friend who told me she has travelled with another friend who uses a wheelchair. I'll ask her what the procedure was.

Adult wheelchairs are pretty straightforward, because they are usually either powered or fold in half. Children's wheelchairs are much more complicated (and heavier), so I am specifically wanting info from someone who has traveled with a pedi wheelchair.
