Ok, for ne, try to calm down. Diagnosing over the internet is really not going to do anything other than get you worked up and worried about everything you read.
Language isn't actually considered delayed (speaking in Autism/Asperger's/PDD type relevance) until they haven't developed it by 3 years. If he was talking before that then its not truly delayed and that may help you rest a bit easier. That doesn't mean he doesn't need help in that area to develop it more or pronunciation, but that can be a standalone issue and may not be related to anything other than a speech issue.
PDD-NOS means that it does not fall into one of the other categories. Which means its not otherwise specified. Sometimes its given to kids who can't be placed but there are developmental delays and sometimes its given while in the process to evaluate for other diagnosis's to start services for the child. Unless a child is more severely affected by Autism (more classic style, hard to categorize/explain I guess, lol), it (and Asperger's) are generally not diagnosed or considered until school age. So don't beat yourself up about not searching for something sooner.
The staring off into the sky and such I've seen typical kids do time and time again, I wouldn't worry so much about that. The repetitive stuff and small fine motor coordination (writing) would be more of the areas I would focus on.
I'm not sure what type of Drs you have in the UK, but some sort of child psychologist or developmental pediatrician would be where I would start. Goodluck!
