Chicken pox and facial scars?

How big is the chance of getting permanent facial scars on the face once one contracts chicken pox? Is it like a given that one has to end up with scars on the face once cotnracted the desease? Are there a cases when one did get sick but never got a scars?

Was the scars issue ever a factor in your decission regarding vaccinations against the chicken pox?

I have a scar on my eyebrow from the chicken pox. I don't think it is too common though, since I rarely see anyone with chicken pox scars on their face. It never entered my mind when deciding not to vaccinate for it.

I had a scar near my eye for the longest time, but it wasn't noticeable and faded completely around age 20. I actually know several people who had similar scars. We discussed it one day and came to the conclusion that lots of people have them (most in the same area, between the eye and temple) but nobody else ever notices them. None of us still have them.

I also got shingles, and still think the CP vax is unnecessary.

I don't have any scars on my face from CP, in fact I only have 1 scar from it on my body that I know of and it's on my torso.

Scars had nothing to do with my decision to vax or not. ( I'm no vax)

My daughter ended up with 2 scars on her face, one in her eye brow and one a little down from it, this one its not rasied up, its kinda like a dip.. You can bearly see it.. I only know where it is and what it is from because I am the mom..

My son how ever has 2 horrible scars on his back from chicken pox, he picked and scrached and all that stuff and very lucky being a boy I'm sure he could care less..

And my 19 month old who got the chicken pox the worst has no scars

would i vax because of the scars nope...

I have at least one cp scar on my face, and a couple others in obvious places (one on upper arm, etc.) They've never bothered me. Scars would not make me vax.

I might have some scars on the back of my legs, but I also had poison ivy often as a child. In anycase the scars only show up with a dark tan.

I've heard that it's the first pox that scar the worst (barring any picking/heavy duty scratching, of course), and that was certainly true in my case. The first ones I had were on my chest and legs, and those are where the scars are.

I had a friend in college who had a few large crater-type scars on his face from chicken pox, and he said those were where his first pox showed up as well.

DD2 (18 months when she had the pox) has one small scar by her eyebrow from the CP, my older 2 didn't get any on their face just a couple on their torsos.

I have a couple up by my eyebrow. Unless you get really up close and search for them and I tell you, you would never know. But then again I scar really, really easily and was a huge tomboy. I swear I'm mostly scar tissue, so I could care less about the little cp scars.

My sister has a scar on her eybrow too from CP. What is up with that location?

I have none from CP. I did get a scar from smallpx vax like I guess everyone does who gets it. And, shingles gave me a huge area of scarring. I am glad it is on my lower back and not anywhere else.

I was 6 when I had CP. No scars that I've noticed. DH has a few on his face but they are indented and the same skin tone as the rest of his face so you don't actually notice them unless you get very close. My second DS had CP when he was two but didn't get any scars.

My oldest was 9 ( and vaccinated btw) when he got them. He had them BAD my moms a nurse and she said it was one of the worst cases she saw COVERED in his ears up his nose. He has NO scars facial or otherwise

I have one up in my hair line. I think it's interesting. I also have a scar from a smallpox vaccine that is not nearly as cute.

This is one thing that never even crossed my radar.

I have no scars from pox. I have one from a giant teenage zit, though.

I had a scar by my eyebrow and my cheeckbone. They were completely gone (you cannot see them at all) by the time I was 18 or so (but even before they were barely noticeable).
