I have no scars, my sister had one on the common spot between the eye and temple already mentioned. Â
Â
However, my 14 month old and 4 year old got it this past summer- the 14 month old has one on his cheek, and the 4 year old has at least 13 (just counted!) on his face on his forehead, directly above his eyes to his hairline, including one rather large one that I doubt will ever fade. Â I didn't think this sort of scarring would be possible in my decision not to vaccinate, and have to admit I wonder if he'll notice/feel bad about it when he's older. Â Once they fade from pink/red to white they're difficult to see, and of course you can always grow bangs, but you know how people can be conscious about that sort of thing...still, I wouldn't want to end up with shingles or something from either not getting CP at all or from some wonky vaccine side effects, and my concern was that if the vaccine wore off and got it when they were older it would be FAR worse, and it seems likely that this is what will happen to at least a big segment of the vaccinated population.
Â
About scratching, I think if you scratch like mad it will increase scarring, but the baby didn't scratch at all, and the 4 year old scratched only the ones on his feet, which didn't scar at all!
