DS has an open sore from a diaper rash. WTD?

The rash cleared up pretty quickly except this one spot that has gotten worse. It is about a dime size open wound. I try to change him quickly, but he's pooping so frequently and it irritates him so badly. The only thing I can think of is to put some sort of antibiotic ointment and a bandaid on and then his diaper over that...is that a bad idea. I just feel like it needs protecting and I don't want him to get an infection.

Maybe a canker sore bandage? They are ment to stick to your wet mouth and survive a wet environment, and they have a numbing agent in them.

how about using healing wool on the affected area?

Have you considered getting some medical advice? I would be concerned that its' gotten infected, and that's why it won't heal. Staph infections often act that way.

I'd clean it, dry it and then slather it with Lansinol. Lansinol creates a nice Vasoline type barrier without the petroleum by-product issue. If it doesn't clear up in 48 hours I'd call your Dr.
