Girl middle name help!

We are thinking of naming our girl Ruby. This is the name of my mother's mother, who passed away before I was born.

Anyway, I struggle with the middle name.

Our last name is six letters, starts with a 'D' and is the third largest city in Texas.

I want you all to know what it is, but prefer not to have the last name typed out so this thread won't be a hit on a google search, know what I mean?? So don't type out the last name please.

Any suggestions?

I think something with three syllables would give the whole name nice cadence...just be mindful of names beginning with a vowel as it will give her initials a meaning of its own (RAD, RID, ROD!!). Don't know if this helped any...good luck!

Do you have a middle name? What about another family name? What kinds of names do you like (nature, traditional, a particular ethnicity/nationality, etc.)?

Maybe something longish and timeless?

Ruby Caroline
Ruby Catherine
Ruby Elizabeth
Ruby Margaret

Soleil (pronounced "so-lay", is French, means sun). I have encountered a few kids named "Soleil" as a first name in my area, and just think it's really pretty.

My middle name is my maiden name, and you know, I just don't care for it much. I think it would sound weird and awkward as her middle name.

I like the suggestions so far! I want to go sort of "normal" for a first name, but the field is wide open for a middle name I think.

Ruby Ann(e)
Ruby Quinn
Ruby Monroe
Ruby Lucille
Ruby Alexis
Ruby Elise

What about choosing a middle name that has personal meaning to you, like you did with her first name? Maybe the name of an author or literary character you love, or a historical figure you admire, or a place with special significance?

I, too, think it would be good to go with a name that has particular meaning to you or your DP, especially seeing as shes already named after a family member. Go with something you like!!

I think the timeless names sound really nice with Ruby and your last name.

Ruby Katherine (Katharine?)
Ruby Charlotte
Ruby Josephine
Ruby Elaine
Ruby Estelle
Ruby Michelle
Ruby Celeste
Ruby Kathleen

IMO, longer middle name seems to fit best.

I have a friend whose daughter's name is Ruby Belle and I think it's super cute! I also really like Ruby Quinn as a pp suggested. I guess I like the shorter middle names. WIth a classic name like Ruby, it's hard to go wrong with a middle name, I think. I agree that when it comes down to it, just pick another name you love! Did you have a runner up name to Ruby?

I was also considering Kaya as a first name, but I just don't know if Ruby Kaya works. In fact, I think it doesn't.

These longer classic names are feeling good to me. I am trying to think of some kind of significant place or person too.

Amarie
Emmeline

Def. something with 3 syllables. Maybe try Name Nerds website or google for 'girl names three syllables' and see if you can find more ideas.

Love the name Ruby!

i love these

or use something personal to you. i love using family names as middle names since i don't really care for many of our family names as first names!

Ruby Anne was the first thing that sprang to mind. Or maybe Ruby Mae... I think a short name would give a nice "swing" to the name. Ruby Leigh... Ruby Faye... Ruby Joy... I dunno.

Ember
Jasper (friends of ours have a girl with the middle name jasper)
Elora
Maegan ( call her ruby mae for short!)
Soleil
Magnolia

and then i ran out of ideas so i started searching ruby + middle name on google and found these:

Leigh
Celeste
Grace
Layne
