Birthday Crown Ideas for Winter Birthdays

Hi! Both of my DDs birthdays are coming up. DD1 is 12/27, and DD2 is 12/22.

For DD2, I think I'll do something related to winter and the solstice since her birthday falls on the solstice most years. The day she was born was very snowy, so I'd like to incorporate that as well.

I really don't know what to put on DD1s crown. She missed Christmas, but was born before new years. She came home from the hospital on New Years Eve and that's when we really started our lives together.

I really want each child's birthday crown to be different, but it's so hard seeing that they're so close.

Cranberries?

Cedar, fir or pine boughs?

tiny paper snowflakes?

Tiny pinecones ?

I'd stay away from holly.. too prickly.

I do like the idea of an image of a pine tree and snowflake, though! My daughter's birthday is on Thursday and I put an acorn, oak leaf and her initial on the crown. So, maybe an angel, too? One more image and you'd have 2 each for each girl's crown and her initial in the center (winter images on either side). How about a wreath?

My DD's birthday is Jan 4. On her bday crown I just put flowers like the one on this link - http://juicy-bits.typepad.com/juicy_...-tutorial.html.

What about a snowman? Or a robin? Mistletoe?

I am almost done with my DSs crown.  I am doing applique winter scene...snow man, pine trees, snow flake embroidery.

I am trying to figure out how to incorporate his name too...but I am not putting on a number, as I think this should be his crown indefinitely.

I used a light blue felt background...and there is snow on the "ground".

His birthday is January 12th.

My dd's b-day is 12/22 too and my BIL is 12/27 (I just thought the connection was funny!).  We modelled dd's crown after the St. Lucia crown.  It's green with candles sticking up and has a holly border with a large poinsettia in the center.

I just got on-line to ask this same question!  My daughter turns three late January and is really looking forward to her birthday crown.  I was thinking just of making snowflakes on a blue background.  These other ideas are great too.

I would love to see a visual of what others have done.  Can anyone post pictures? PLEASE!  I'd love to see!

Here is a pic of the finished crown I made for my DS

It's hand embroidered, applique, and I machine sewed the outer edge for a smoother finish.

There are little silver bells on the tips of the points...which he loves :)

IT's all wool or blend wool/rayon felt and I got a cute flannel for the backing and elastic cover.
