I finally figured out that it's salt/salty foods that is causing the "liplicker's dermatitis" around ds's mouth. So that's good - we've cut way down, almost eliminated them. But ds does love his salt so occasionally he still has something - salted nuts or chips, etc. and even though I try to get him to wash his hands and wipe his mouth right after it seems like now even the tiniest bit of salt causes some redness. This only started 2 years ago when he was 6 - before that he could eat salt with no problem. Anyone have an idea why this would suddenly become a problem and why now even a small amount would cause a reaction? It's very annoying! LOL

I am not sure if it has to do with him having a habit of playing with his mouth/lips? I think this might have peaked 2 years ago so maybe before he could eat salt but then wasn't...I don't know - "rubbing it in" to his skin so much before because he wasn't constantly having his fingers around his mouth?
