time sensitive - can you feel your cervix?

particularly those who are 12weeks+, can you feel your cervix? i'm having a lot of cramping related to diarrhea.. i'm 28 weeks tomorrow and i'm feeling it right from my rib cage down to the pelvic floor and in my back, i know i'm getting braxton hicks, i've been getting them regularly for weeks.

so i did a little self-exam to see if my cervix was palpable, and ..nothing. can't feel a thing. i'm hoping this doesn't mean it's thinning out. it's scaring me a bit.. and i can't go to the hospital right now. my water isn't broken or anything so it's almost certainly just diarrhea cramping, but it's excruciating.

I am 20w and i have and can still feel my cervix....however i know that after having a BM after being constipated for a while i can barely feel it...

I can feel mine (24 weeks) but it's hard to find because it's not in the same place it is when I'm not pregnant and it's soft instead of firm, so it almost feels like part of the surroundings until I make out the "donut" shape.

I remember when doing cervical checks in my last week or so that often my cervix was too far back to easily get to.

I had to sit on the toilet and 'push' my uterus down like I was having a BM in order to get to it.

Are you sure you're reaching your cervix?

I wouldn't even know where my cervix is if I didn't have the tiniest lump of scar tissue on it. It feels like a mass of jello and totally blends in.

My midwives and ob/gyn have difficulty locating my cervix, lol, so I don't even try from my angle. Mine's very posterior, practically right up to delivery.

Ditto.

Although I'm 39ish weeks and just started fishing around for it this week to see if I noticed anything different. The last time I went poking around up there was over a year ago when I was trying to have my mirena removed and searching for the string. My cervix is definitely way higher and softer than it was back then, I can just barely feel it. I too have to squat and "push" and really reach to find it.

I would check with your provider just be sure everything is ok since you are having diarrhea and contractions. Braxton hicks may be actual and ones that feel actual may be braxon hicks. I wouldn't be to worried but (if it were me) I would go get checked just for my sanity.

With DS I couldn't reach my cervix unless I was squatting pushing and bent in a position I couldn't even get into before pregnancy. With this one my cervix is lower, but still very hard to reach.

I could feel mine yesterday, but it has moved up and I can't feel it today. I'm 27 weeks.
A posterior cervix is usually a good thing if you're worried about PTL

thank you.. that's very reassuring. i'm going to my OB tomorrow afternoon and unless the BH get horribly bad AND very regular (i mean, more than usual...) i'm going to wait it out at home.

41w5d (the day before she was born) i could not feel it at all

NOT because it was thinning. It didnt start thinning until around 4am on 41w6d

up until 41w5d it was high, closed, posterior and thick and hurt SO BAD the two times my midwife checked it (at my request, so my fault lol) because she had to reach up SO HIGH to feel it.

ouch! yeah i seem to remember thinking the doc was trying to get in up to his elbows at one point when i was having DD1. maybe that's all it is

i went to the doc but since the false labour symptoms are basically gone.. we're not worried anymore

I have literally never felt my cervix. It is a common fertility sign when trying to conceive and I've just never felt it. It is just too high/deep. I also can't use the instead cups because they need to get back behind the cervix. When I get a pelvic exam they need the "long" forceps. Wonderful. Why can't "long vagina" have the same connotation as "long penis"?
