Favorite Prenatal Yoga or Workout Videos?

Hi Mamas!

I am 14 weeks and finally have enough energy to start working out again (yay!). Pre-pregnancy I went to a beginner/ intermediate yoga class 3 days a week, and an advanced class 2 days a week. Those classes are in the morning and I'm so exhausted I haven't been able to go, so I've been looking into dvds. I'm looking for a dvd that is somewhat relaxing, but I'm more in it for the work out. Flow is a must and I like to work out for about an hour (or more).

Today I tried the Crunch Fitness Yoga Mama dvd bc it I can watch it instantly on netflix. It was nice but not challenging enough. I've been looking at two dvds on Amazon:

1. Complete Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga & Short Forms 2 DVD Set DVD with Jennifer Wolfe

2.The Perfect Pregnancy Workout vol. 1 DVD with Karyne Steben

Have any of you tried these dvds?

What are your favorite Prenatal yoga or workout dvds and can you tell me a little about them?

Thanks!

I'm a full-time yoga teacher specializing in prenatal and postnatal yoga! I haven't seen all the videos, but the Crunch yoga mama is actually one I recommend for more active practitioners. Also Rainbeau Mars MamaZen (may not be exact title).

Truthfully, at 14 weeks and a seasoned practitioner, you're not going to find a prenatal video that is challenging enough for you - teachers need to teach responsibly and you are not their average student! So, I'd look for a regular DVD (like the Shiva Rea DVDs) and do them. Omit overt ab strengtheners (like Boat pose - Navasana), belly down poses (Bow pose - Dhanurasana) and any deep twists or backbends if they don't feel right to you. Use your intuition and remember your practice should be in service to your pregnancy at this point.

Let me know what you find! I haven't reviewed the prenatal DVDs you mentioned you were interested in trying fyi.

Be well,

Thanks for the suggestions Fertilemertyl! I have been considering trying just regular yoga dvds, but just wasn't sure how to modify. I just want to sweat a little, you know?! A mama in my DDC suggested trying the library, so I'm going to see what they have. I also added Shiva Rea's prenatal dvd to my netflix so hopefully I'll be able to try it out over the weekend.

I have Shiva Rea's prenatal dvd - it is super easy, but good for stretching & relaxation.
But when I want a real workout, I do Karyne Steban's Perfect Pregnancy dvd. I've been doing that one semi-regularly since August & it still kicks my butt. It's comprehensive & I feel great during and after, but the next day I wake up worked. I guess that means it's working!

Shiva Rea's prenatal DVD is excellent for yoginis who want a gentle practice, but that's not you Oregon! Maybe in your last few weeks but not now So, I'd recommend her Yoga Shakti DVD or the Solar or Lunar. All widely avail on netflix.
