First timers gather here!

Anyone else here that is probably/maybe/definitely pregnant with their first?

I'm in the probably category, and EVERYTHING feels like a pregnancy symptom

So anyway, about me...

I'm 31, married, and currently living in China. I head back to the US in early December, so if I'm actually pregnant I'll start interviewing midwives before the holidays. I'm pretty sure I already know who I want, but it doesn't hurt to talk to more, right?

Hey! I'm pg with #1 too. I feel like I should have more symptoms than I do. Although my "missed period" was only yesterday so I suppose there is PLENTY of time for that.

To reassure myself, I have a pile of cheap pg tests from the internet which I've been peeing on for almost a week. It's such a rush to see them getting darker!

Awww, I am so happy for you guys. I'm a second timer and remember being treated like a queen the first time around . DH is super excited this time as well, but I can tell it's relatively subdued compared to the first. My advice is to be ultra-bratty for the next 40 weeks!

Joining you all here too! I am a week passed my missed period, and just finally got up the nerve to take a test this morning.
It is our first, and looks like the due date is July 1. I am very happy, but also a bit shocked (we were trying, but still). Have lots and lots to learn.

I might be lurking here. I missed my period, and had what I think was implantation bleeding Oct 9th. Negative on the POAS test, but I think I took it too early. I am having symptoms though, and other folks I have shared this with also think there's a baby in there brewing. I'm not changing my siggy until I get a BFP though. I looked it up and think I would be due mid-late July, possibly into August, but that would be a very very full term baby.

ETA: It would be our first, and we're going to celebrate our 2nd anniversary on Monday with dinner out. I'm thinking of skipping the champagne, at the very least all the bubbles would not help the queasy tummy.

Just found out!

I JUST took the pregnancy test about 2 hours ago. I kinda knew I was pregnant for over a week but I didn't want to believe it. I still sort of don't want to believe it...anxious I will lose it!

It's my first pregnancy! We planned this and have only been trying for 1 month. I think we are kinda stunned like "wow-it worked!".

When to tell?

Just found out yesterday! Like you, gotrenzi, we haven't been trying very long, so I'm kind of in shock. We're so excited and want to tell our families, possibly at Thanksgiving, but I was just reading online that people wait until 12 weeks to tell??! I can't even imagine waiting that long, considering I'm about 6 weeks now (just based on an online calculator)! How about everyone else? Are you waiting to tell?

Third times a charm??

I got a BFP yesterday! This is actually my third pregnancy (miscarried two). We're hoping the third time's the charm! The date of my LMP was October 1 and the EDD is July 8th but I'm guessing I'll go late.

After the 2nd, I was referred to a fertility specialist. My husband & I are very lucky because the 1st & 3rd pregnancy, we got pregnant the first month we tried. The specialist ran some blood tests and found I am heterozygous for MTHFR and prescribed me extra doses of folic & B vitamins. I am also on a baby aspirin regimen to hopefully prevent blood clots.

My HCG levels were not tested during the other two pregnancies but I went Monday and it was 131. I go back tomorrow, hoping the number continues to go up.

Im first timer,, was trying for 15th cycles... I think (if iv done it right) im due on the 13th July 2011!! scary stuff!!

Definitely agree that it is a shock, and part of me is still in denial. I got my positive test a week ago now and it was our second month trying. So now I am panicking trying to pick out an OB since I didn't have one already, and really, strongly intend to have a natural birth. We have told a couple people, my Mom, and my dh's Dad and one of his sisters. I think we will share the news around Thanksgiving with the rest of our family, which will still be in the first trimester, but I agree, I just don't think we can wait any longer! Maybe I will still wait until week 12, though, to put it on Facebook, and announce it to the whole world.

Congrats everyone, especially those who have been trying for a while!

I'm five weeks and only just starting to actually feel pregnant. We caught the egg on the first try. I'm incredibly thankful, but it was pretty surprising. It took a week for me to actually believe it! I was prepared for it to take months.

When are you all planning to see your midwife/doc for the first time?

Yes Mama Metis, we are waiting to tell most people although in 1 week, we've already told probably too many people. We told our parents (but not sibs) and I ended having to tell my boss. My boss guessed actually but it took so much stress off me for her to know because now she knows why I'm tired and out of it. She's been coming home earlier to relieve me (I'm a nanny) and in general more understanding.

The only problem is I told my mom who then told EVERYONE but she lives in another state. So my whole family down there knows plus probably everyone she meets on the street. I can't blame her for being excited - I can barely contain my desire to tell everyone I see too! But...I told her we were waiting to avoid any untelling if there was a loss/problem. She agreed with me and still told everyone. *sigh* Oh well.

I called my midwife last Monday and I'm scheduled for an intake on the 17th (bloodwork) and exam on the 29th. She said they wait til you are about 8 weeks to make sure you get that far I guess.

oh my gosh, I completely forgot to update. Can i blame it on Pregnancy Brain

My HCG is looking good. Mon @4pm=131, Wed @4pm=355, Fri @9am=657

But my progesterone dropped. It was 21 on Mon & Wed. On Friday it went to 14.9. They prescribed me prometrium and I've been taking that nightly since Friday.

I have an appointment with the specialist on Wednesday for an ultrasound. Because of my 2 previous MCs they want to monitor me more closely..

first time!

I was in denial for about a week after I took the first test, took another one last week, positive again! Still somewhat in shock that nature did her thing and it worked, haha!  Just taking one day at a time, excited but feeling uncertain because I don't feel any different.  We told my parents and my FIL last night, they are first time grandparents and are over the moon, we swore them to secrecy because we want to be the ones to tell extended family at Christmas!
