I'm almost 17 weeks along with twins and last night after returning from the bathroom I laid down on a scorpion in my bed. it stung me the first joint of my left middle finger. Other than stinging for a minute or two, nothing else happened. No swelling-nada, we changed the sheets and went back to sleep. Finger is fine this AM. Should I be worried? (I live in FL and my DH thinks it was probably just a wood scorpion) WWYD? Per the doppler babies sound fine...

Isn't it crazy?? We live in the country though, so not unusual for critters to sneak in
A quick google search said that stings result in venom being released into the body which my be fatal to unborn child-but only with the poisonous ones and normally accompanied by pain swelling rash etc...none of which I have. My mid wife isn't in yet to ask. I just wonder how would they go about making sure everything was ok?

I called my m/w and left a message, but have gotten no response yet. Still doing fine, no swelling etc. I'm not really worried about it, my DH thinks it was just a wood scorpion, which is not venomous (not to mention it was pretty small). Word to the wise: don't let your comforter touch the floor.
ETA: This was the scorpion that stung me. And the University of Florida Extension Service seems to indicate it (and the other species found in FL) post no harm to pregnant women or nursing women (unless of course you're allergic).

Update: My m/w called and said she is absolutely not worried. I could come in if I wanted to, but unless I start getting a rash, or swelling or any other symptoms, she's really not concerned. So
She did say I was having a very "adventurous" pregnancy
Let's hope that's all she wrote for the adventure part for now. I'll have enough of it to last me a lifetime starting in about 5 months

That is amazing that it doesn't hurt! I stepped on a scorpion in the middle of the night and it hurt so much that I couldn't sleep. Basically it hurt like everything for about 12 hours, off and on for another 12, and soar to the touch for another 24. I'll trade our AZ scorpions for FL scorpions any day!
