From week 8 to about week 20, I will be seeing someone about every 2 weeks! My first ultrasound with be at week 8 with my doctor (I declined the 6 week ultrasound). I will have my midwife appointment around week 10. From there, I will have the sequential screening done, which is at week 12 ultrasound/bloodwork, 16 bloodwork, and 20 ultrasound, in between those visits will be visits with my midwife. I'm 41, which is why we do the screening. Once we know we're having a healthy baby, from week 20 on, it's just the midwife and homebirth.
When do you plan on seeing your doctor/midwife for the first time? - Page 2
I finally made my appt. and it will be in early Dec. and I will be almost 10 weeks. They did mention an ultrasound (and of course bloodwork). I was charting when we conceived and it just happened to be picture perfect, so I am pretty certain when ovulation happened. I will take it along to show them. It is a new place with my first pregnancy, so I am not sure quite what to expect!
As this is our first pregnancy, I decided to make my appointments right away. Also, getting onto the list with our local midwife group is tough, and you can't register until after you're pregnant, so I didn't want to wait! I have my first appt with my doctor on Nov 29th. I don't know what it will include beyond that they're going to confirm pregnancy. I will be 6 wks by then. Then I have an information session with the midwives on December 9th, right after DH and I get back from a trip to San Francisco for his sister's wedding.
will be seeing my midwife for the first time next friday. i have not been keeping track of how far along i am. i am guessing that i will be 9 or 10 weeks at that point but really not certain. i doubt my midwife does ultrasounds but because i have a subchorionic hemotoma i plan on getting another ultrasound at some point to see if it has resolved itself and will go to my local clinic for that. the doctor at the local clinic is very cool and she herself had a home birth recently with a local midwife.
Just made my first MW appt for 12/13...I will be 7 weeks (8 according to them). There are 3 MWs on staff at my practice, and they aren't the easiest to get in with, so I wanted to be sure to get on one of their calendars. Plus, I wanted to work around a time of day that wouldn't be too obvious that I was going to the doctor, since the nosey people I work with already have their eyes peeled for doctors appointments showing up on my calendar.
We just had our first appointment! First pregnancy, first appointment - we were super psyched!
I didn't ask, but expected, that we'd get an ultrasound, but they didn't plan for that - it's a midwifery practice, and we're at about 9 weeks, so I guess that wasn't on the agenda. But for dating purposes and for genetic testing, we're going back tomorrow morning and getting an ultrasound. It's very exciting, because today's appointment was great, but a little anti-climactic. We had some very minor questions, but we have no health problems and are low-risk, so mostly we just have to wait to see the bean and do some screening in a few weeks. I'm still glad we went today - it can't hurt to establish some care and just cover all the bases!
I just made my first appointment this morning - its with midwives in another state 3+ hours away, because they aren't legal here. Its for January 5th, and I'll be right around 10 weeks. I haven't had formal prenatal care with any of my other pregnancies, just an occasional visit every couple of months and one u/s around 20 weeks. This will be the first time I've had regular, formal prenatal care, and I'm so relieved I found good midwives.
I am just 4 1/2 weeks right now, so it will be a little bit before I see the MW. She is going to call me this morning, but she joked in her email to me last night that this is my 4th, so I have plenty of time. I have no idea when I will see her for the first time. I know DH will want to have an appt ASAP. He's just like that.
The norm around here is not to see you till 12 weeks I have typically gotten in sooner because of Hyper Emesis (severe morning sickness...) Thankfully that is not seeming to be an issue this time. Last pg and this pg, I have had a subchorionic hematoma but that never seemed to get me an earlier appointment.
The ER Dr was miffed I had not seen an OB yet when I went in with severe cramping yet none of the Drs on my insurance will see you before 12 weeks. He suggested I go to my regular Dr and I know from my last pregancy he is hands off for pregancy issues.
