I went to interview a midwife today. My options around here are pretty slim, and given that I go so fast during births I wanted somebody close by. I was afraid she would be too hands on for my tastes but I was very pleasantly surprised. She turned out to be the midwife I wish I had with my other two children.
My past experience was not optimal and I didn't realize I carried so much baggage until I unloaded it today. She was personable, kind, and attentive. My biggest goal is to have someone I can form a close relationship with and I'm really so glad I went to see her, I think we're going to have a really good experience together.

. I really, really liked her and am so excited to have found a CNM who is a radical!! And her office is in her house which is literally 3 blocks away from us. I didn't want to do any prenatal testing except for the 20 week ultrasound (just to check the placenta because I have had previa issues in the past). She is cool with that - she actually knows an ultrasound tech who has a mobile machine and will come to my house!! Yay!! I just love that.
I don't have maternity coverage right now so we are totally going out of pocket.
I think we're going to break up our's into big chunks, it just has to be paid by 36 weeks. It helps that the birth is after tax season
I don't think I'll be doing any early prenatal testing, the only things I really want to do are iron checks, one anatomy scan between 20-25 weeks, and GBS.
that may be where my refund goes as well.
