What do you pay for farm eggs?

I'm debating w/a neighbor about the price of her eggs. I think she sells them way too cheap. I never ever buy eggs (haven't for years), and I don't sell many (I give them away when we have too many), so I'm not sure.

So, what do you pay for farm fresh eggs, not organic, but pastured. She is selling for $1.50/dozen. I'm thinking she should add at LEAST .50 to that, but maybe up to $1 more.

The ones closest to us are $1.50 a dozen. I've seen them range from that up to $3.00 a dozen.

Wow, if only! I get them for $5 a dozen, delivered to my door along with my milk. At the farmers market they're $4.75 a dozen. Those are both organic, though. I've seen non organic sell for about $3 a dozen at the farmers markets around here. I'm in Alberta, Canada.

Around here the cheapest I've seen for pastured but not organic is 4.50 to 5

I'm in Seattle, & we pay $3 a dozen. I had to search high and low for that price...most are more like $4-6/dozen. High cost of living here, though.

Standard supermarket eggs: $2 a dozen.

supermarket organic: $4 to $5 a dozen

My neighbor's eggs: $2 a dozen

Pastured eggs from my favorite local farm: $3 a dozen

I'm in a high cost-of-living area, though, where farm-fresh eggs are less commonly available. But I would guess that people would pay $2, easily.

Standard farm eggs (so free-range, but not organic) go from $1.50-3.00. Mostly they're $2, unless they're small then mostly $1.50. I haven't found organic free-range eggs in ages, though I think they were a solid $3.

depending on where I get them, between 3.75 to 6 dollars, the latter being for duck eggs. But usually I pay $5.

wow, I get them for $1.50 nice big ones too. I had to go get them from another farm when the supply was low a few weeks ago. They were charging $2.50 and I thought that was high!

We are in major Amish country and have 4 or 5 different farms selling them within a 1 mile area of our house so supply and demand are working in my favor.

store eggs- 99 cents/dozen

store organic- 2 dollars/dozen

farm eggs at most of the "unmanned" farm stands (by the road)- 1.50-2.50 per dozen

farm eggs at the farmer's market- 2.50-3.00 per dozen

The egg stands and the farmer's market eggs are not "certified" organic, but they are free range/"effectively organic".

But a lot of people here keep at least 1 or 2 hens so that probably affects the price. Many of my friends only buy eggs when there is a real baking marathon planned(holiday cookies for example).

Can you (or your friend) visit a co-op or farmer's market to see what the going rate is? Though if she has the eggs and is happy with the price she gets then it doesn't seem like it would be a problem, right?

Pastured eggs self-serve style at the place where we get our raw milk are $2.50/dozen. I also get some from a certain person at the Farmers' Market that are $4.50/dozen, but I feel like they are totally worth it because of how those are raised, completely soy-free,etc.

$7/dozen farm eggs (if you bring your own container)

$9/dozen store bought organic eggs

You can get them for $1.50/dozen around here, and they are probably free-range-ish. The farmer I get them from charges $3.50-4.50/dozen. They are free range with organic feed when feed is necessary.

Supermarket Large white eggs $2.29 per dozen
Farm eggs (brown, mixed sizes) I pay $2.75 per dozen
Certified organic large brown eggs at local farmer's market are $4.50 per dozen

I agree that she should charge more. At least $2 per dozen.

I pay $4.99 a dozen for pastured eggs. We're buying them cause our chickens disappeared one by one.
