Do you use honey? What do you use if for? What kind of honey do you use -- clover, blackberry, etc. Do you buy it locally?? Do you know which honey is the healthiest? Or, are they all the same??

So many questions!!!

Do you use honey?-- yes
What do you use if for?-- baked goods, on top of toast, in a pb&honey sandwhich, on a spoon (perfect for sore throats!)
What kind of honey do you use -- clover, blackberry, etc. Do you buy it locally?? -- no idea what kind it is right now. we buy it at our local farmers market and they let the kids taste test so we bought whatever was their favorite (also happened to be mine )
Do you know which honey is the healthiest? Or, are they all the same??-- I think they're all the same, but I don't research this stuff so

mmmm... yes. A lot. Always. We only get raw, and we prefer local (within a couple states of us at least.) We eat it by the spoonful, and use it in baking. And put it in tea.

My top favorites (since you're in the PNW) are Uncle Harry's raw clover honey (it's as thick as peanut butter- it's great for eating right off the spoon ), the GloryBee local (PNW) blueberry honey, and the Azure Standard raw honey (it's a great price and sold by the gallon!)

Yes, we use it. I love it.

I put a spoonful in my bread. I bake with it, though I usually mix it with maple syrup or raw sugar, since things baked with honey alone can burn easily. I love the taste, though, so sometimes I bake things specifically to get a honey taste (like honey cake and baklava).

We always use local honey. Lots of local stuff around here. I want the really dark stuff, like buckwheat; but so far have been unable to find it locally. We do use unpasteurized.

I have heard that the really dark stuff has medicinal/health properties and can help with everything from burns to allergies. Then there is manuka honey, but I haven't bought it because it's not local. I might though, if I become convinced of its power.

We do use honey. Mostly in tea, sometimes in baked things or to sweeten tomato sauce. We always buy organic and/or local/small farm, preferably raw, for two reasons: one, it tastes way better to us. In fact, DH didn't like honey at all until I introduced him to organic. Two, non-organic (or conscientiously small-farmed) bees are often fed sugar water instead of getting nectar from flowers, so they end up sick and parasite-ridden, which means their honey is lower quality and they have to be sprayed with pesticides and fungicides. Blech! So organic/local honey is one of the things we splurge on even with our small budget.

Our current favourite is a local honey that we buy at the farmer's market. It's a ginger honey. It's infused with a fresh ginger flavour that isn't too strong but balances the sweetness of the honey perfectly. My favourite way to eat it is spread on a thick slice of golden-toasted freshly made bread.

Yes, we love honey! I buy local, raw honey and we put it in everything. I much prefer it to sugar, but dh hasn't been convinced that his tea really will be better with honey than sugar.

My kids love it, even straight off a spoon.

I buy local raw honey from a guy who has a booth in the farmer's market. I don't think it's any one kind-- it'll taste slightly different each time I buy some. I'm guessing his bees are "free range bees" . Anyway, I use it sparingly to replace sugar in baked recipes-- like muffins, pancakes, or cookies. I also use it in tea, and in a other recipes, like the infamous Honey Baked Lentils. Dunno which MDC mama it was who first passed on that recipe, but I got it on here and I've been making it for like five years now.

I don't know anything about what's healthiest or anything. I use honey because it's a whole food, and because it's easier than other sweeteners for me to digest-- I have a chronic serious illness and have trouble digesting carbohydrates.

DH eats a whopping tablespoon of it every morning-- swears it cured his hay fever. I don't know about that, but he insists it's true, and insists on giving some to DS whenever he thinks he can get away with it-- DS has seasonal allergies, too.

me too!! I forgot about that but it definitely makes up a noticeable chunk of our honey consumption.

Love honey, but i am picky. I'm not terribly fond of clover, although i'll use it. And i flat out dislike orange blossom. The everyday honey around here is mesquite, thats what i use in hot applications. The raw honey i like best is blackberry, but its seasonal and expensive. We have a beekeeper at the farmers mkt and he'll let you sample his flavors. My second choice is his "beekeepers blend", its no blackberry, but its delicious.

As long as the honey is local I will eat any of it I love having a spoonful of it in a cup of hot water and freshly squeezed lemon juice every morning.

Honey makes up 90%+ of our sweetener (the other <10% going to maple syrup). I use it in everything including all my baking. The kind I normally end up with comes from about an hour away so fairly local. We only get raw honey and I'm not too picky about flavor although there is a raspberry one I really like.

Do you use honey?: Yes! I have a cabinet full of honey.
What do you use if for?: Mostly granola, but also on toast/muffins/scones and as a face wash
What kind of honey do you use: My two favorites are sage and lavender (not flavor infused, just bees released over those crops). They both have a very sweet, pure flavor. Blackberry is also very good. The most interesting one I have tried is eucalyptus.
Do you buy it locally: Yes, at the farmers market or harvest fair. Well, I get the lavender a couple of counties over, but I think that is still local.
Do you know which honey is the healthiest? Or, are they all the same??: Raw is the healthiest because it contains all the beneficial goodies...pollen and enzymes and such.

I only use raw, local honey. Raw is definitely the healthiest! I use it for a lot of things.
