zinc for young toddler

I'm considering giving ds2, 16mos old, supplemental zinc to see if it helps with his (possible) digestion problems.

What brand and type of zinc do you give your lo?

Ds doesn't drink much juice or water (or eat much food), so anything that has to be mixed in something is out.

All I've really found so far is multi-vits with zinc in them. I suppose that would be ok...
Also, most of the multivits I'm finding are for ages 2 and up- would it be ok to give him 1/2 or 1/4 of a vitamin? Or is that a big no-no?

eta- what about this? Is it ok?

or the Dr. Sears multi http://www.searsfamilyapproved.com/multi-vitamin.php

Kid with possible sals issues, stay away from any fruit flavors except lemon or lime (or orange or mango in an emergency). Which rules out 95% of kids multis. Brainchild Nutritionals has a liquid zinc that is lemon flavored that DS didn't mind.

Thanks- looks good!
There's no way he'll drink 3-4oz of juice or water- do you think I could give it without?

I'm not sure about the sals either, anymore- all the sals foods I suspected before, it ended up being sweet potato (and that's IgG). I did cut out fruit for the last few weeks, and his digestion is gradually improving- but I attributed that to me taking vits, and both of us taking probiotics and clo. Oh, and getting rid of yeast.

I wish it were easier to figure out! (but then, we all do, eh?)

but zinc deficiency could make sense here- poor digestion, falling on the charts for weight (but not height, not sure how that fits in), getting increasingly picky as far as eating, eating very little, despite being super active and not nursing a lot. And, we don't eat much meat, and he hardly eats cereals and other foods that would be fortified.

We have done the Kirkman Labs zinc for about a year - I give dd (4 yo) 5 mg. It tastes like cough syrup to me and is easy to put in juice or water. It helped fairly quickly in increasing dd's interest in food and decreasing undigested food in poop.

Totally. I mixed it in a little yogurt, and sometimes I just squirted it straight in. As zinc goes, it tastes pretty bland.
