Help With Jet-Lagged Toddler

its 3 am and we are wide awake... at least my toddler is, me, i feel like a zombie.
we are visiting my parents which is 9 hr time difference, and it has been 3 nights, but i dont think he's adjusting well to the time. it is impossible to put him down at all before midnight, he is super energized, and even when we do our nightly routine, he wants to know nothing about going to bed...
then around midnight i finally manage to get him down, he sleeps for 3 hrs and then an alarm goes off in his head and he is up. he will stay up till about 5 and then crash "for the night". i wake him up around 9 or 10, otherwise he'll sleep through the day. he will then take a nap during the day, usually a pretty long one, and then not go down to midnight again.
any tips?

its hard to catch up. Next time try slowly chaning he routine before you go...one hour up earlier or later (depending on which way you fly) so its a slow change.
In your case its going to be a little more difficult----- but try as much sunlight during the day as you can get him. Keep meals on your normal time (but snacks when he is starving at the wrong times---as small as you can get them). But really time...time is going to help. the rule of thumb is 1 day per 1 hour your off.
