my own apartment!

My housing voucher came through and I am signing a lease today! I have been living with my xh for nearly the last 3 years after being divorced for 2 years prior to that. I am so excited, even though it is a little daunting to be on my own again. I will be very happy for the increase in food stamps and the ability to decide how they are spent. I will also be very happy to have the tiny bit of discretionary income I will have from CS to spend on the children the way I want to. To be able to have the toys out in such a way so they can play with them will please us all. He is a neat freak and always insists on having them 'put away' it is hard to play with a toy if you are only 2 or 7 and don't remember that you have a complete farm set because it is in a box in a closet. I have been scouring craigslist for furniture and dishes and household stuff since I sold all my stuff prior. except my clothes. I will be sooooooo happy to see my clothes (and shoes) again! I will have a big closet and can hang them all up! Many have been in boxes in the garage because this house is way too small for all 4 of us. It will be sad leaving the cat here, but it will help my allergies to be pet free again. I just wanted a few high fives, well wishes and pats on the back.

And definitely check to see if you've got a freecycle in your area. People post wants all the time...ex: you need a bed-frame or a dresser or a tv, etc. Stuff that triggers ideas for "OH! We haven't used that in ages and she needs it!" I responded to wants regularly when I was first starting the decluttering process. I even responded to a woman asking for decorating items of a certain type. She was furnishing her first post-divorce apartment and wanted to make it pretty and fun for her family!
