My poor baby...sick or teeth?

I know no one can give me medical advice. I want opinions.

We don't have a ped. We still haven't found one we liked...we even changed the way our insurance works so we could look off base. However, this involves paying out of pocket at appts. (We *could* go on base but it's impossible to get an appt...even an "emergency" one.)

DS rarely gets sick. He's unvaxed and BF'd until 15mo. Normally he eats well (He loves fruit and veggies and will eat those before meats and whatnot at dinner) but this week he hasn't been eating so much.

I risked losing a fingertip and felt that his top molars (yep, both) are popping through. This was Tues night. Around that same time I had the worst allergy attack I've had in a long time. Like, I felt my right eye swell up and had to immediately take out my contacts. I couldn't breathe. It was weird because we were inside...

Okay, now the real point of my post: Poor baby cried most of the night last night. Nothing helped more than 5-10mins at a time. Changing positions didn't work, walking didn't work, etc... This morning he's in a fairly good mood with clear snot running freely out of his nose. He feels warm but when I take his temp (we have a temporal thing) it comes up normal each time. (Like, 98.6 normal)

Could it really be just allergies and teeth at the same time? When should I worry? What can I do for the poor kid? I HATE when he's sick!

We gave him some before bed last night and it didn't seem to help...

I gave him some first thing this morning (6am) but he was already in a good mood at that point and he cried in his sleep again between then and 8am. (I medicated to head off anything worse...he gets horrible teething pain)

Sounds like it probably is his teeth. My DD is still cutting her last two molars, but they have been BY FAR the worst. When the first two popped through, she cried constantly (screaming), had a runny nose, and had a low-grade fever. It seemed she would be fine during the mid part of the day, then once evening hit, it was on. I would just monitor him for other things that raise concern. If something else comes up that makes you think it could be more than teething, I would call a doc. Hugs to you bc sick babes are never, ever fun.

The Advil wore off and the real symptoms came through. It just seems like nasty cold, though. Snot is clear. He's warm but only registering a 99F fever. He's in a good mood otherwise...no tantrums or anything today (that's a rarity) He's sleeping right now.

I guess it *could* still be teeth and just a really nasty case of that plus allergies...

In any case, I'm not worried. A cold is no big deal around here.

I'll vote teeth. DS has had many nights like this & it's so sad to see him so miserable, and nothing helps...

Also DS almost always has a runny nose when he's teething. And he's almost always teething sooo.... yeah.

I think since he seems otherwise well, I wouldn't worry too much, just try to keep him comfortable & distracted...

The slight fever is normal for teething...but the runny nose is a new one. However, a friend told me that each molar is like getting 4 teeth (because of each point) so getting two must be like getting 5-8 teeth all at once, right? It would make sense for this round to be worse...

Yeah, he seems fine. I mean, he obviously doesn't feel good...but he's not lethargic (far from it. He was running around playing like normal) and he's not throwing up or anything...
