I work with a guy who was circumcised because his older brother, who was intact, apparently had a lot of problems. I would bet real money that these were directly caused by an ignorant doctor forcibly retracting him, or ordering his mother to do the same.
I am sure the problems were real actually, but iatrogenic. My dad definitely had repeated infections and a lot of scarring, it was real, but it was caused by forced retraction from birth. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy "penises are so dirty, you must get them REALLY clean, EVERY nappy change, or there will be phimosis and infections!" - the "cleaner" you get them the worse the damage, the more the infections. Hey presto - "we TOLD you you should circ" territory...

Thankfully I grew up in a home that seemed to take a hands off approach to things and let nature run it's course. Although I wasn't retractable until I was about 15 or so I was lucky enough to never have anyone try and forecfully do this to me. On the other hand I've had little passed on to me in regards to care for an intact penis (my father was cut) and have educated myself with resources available online over the past few years.
