Cute toddler moments

My 6yo DS is playing Star Wars, and he's being a clone ship that's docking on the mothership. My 2.5yo DD is playing along, and she's being a scone ship that's looking for its mother.

What cute things has your toddler said lately?

DD is almost 2 and learning to say "thank you" at appropriate moments. She just woke up in the morning and crawled into our bed. DH got her a milk sippy cup from the kitchen. SHe is still so sleepy her eyes are closed when she starts to drink the milk. Suddenly she opens her eyes wide with big smile and says, "daddy, thank you" and then eyes closed again with the sippy cup!

DD is into having conversations right now on her fakephone usually with Dora's annoying friend Backpack. The conversations aresofunny.

"Hi Backpack...I'm good. Bedtime's at 8. Gotta go now" or she has a conversation with her dad and imitates me laughing. It's funny and horrifying that my laugh is so horrendous.

It's the most adorable thnig ever watching her "talk" on the phone. She also makes up stories when she reads herbooks. Some of it she memorizes from what we've read to her and some of it she makes up as she goes along.

Mia was nursing last night and once I thought she was asleep, I unlatched. She didn't even open her eyes, but in a groggy little voice, she said "no mama...want other side Mmm!" (Mmm is her word for milk) Doh. It was hard not to crack up laughing because that would have woke her up. Once I relatched her, she giggled and went back to sleep.

I always think it's so funny that my little boy thinks that any character in any book that seems unhappy or upset wants to be "up on mommy". Apparently that fixes everything.

DS pretends to talk on the phone. He doesn't know many words so it's baby babble and HUGE LAUGHS. Like, he'll say something and then roar with laughter.

dd is also super into "talking" on the phone (or anything phone-like). she says "hi" and "buh bye" with a lot of "ummmm"ing and finger wagging in between.

while the sleeplessness is not my favorite thing, when she smooshes her face into mine in the middle of the night and whispers "hi" it kinda melts my heart.

she is obsessed with cats and dogs. if she sees a cat or dog in a book, she picks it up, hugs it to her chest and pats it violently going "oh oh oh oh oh!" she does the same thing with baby dolls, real babies, and the phone if someone she loves is on speaker.

her obsession with babies has also led her to attempted kidnapping on more than a few occassions. she'll walk up to a woman on the street with a stroller and say "baby! oh oh oh oh oh!" and then try to angle in between the mom and the stroller and push it away. it's very, very funny.

This morning, upon waking up, DD stated...

"Momma, I am so glad that Halloween is over! I was getting tired of seeing all those bone monsters and scary jack-o'-pumpkins."

Note: Bone monsters=skeletons
Jack-o'-pumpkins=jack-o'-lanterns

He hasn't learned to thank anyone else yet, but my toddler will now goes around thanking himself! He'll say "thank you Katmai!" every time he wipes up a spill, or dumps something in the bowl while helping me cook, empties the dustpan, etc...

DD is very lovey. She also learns language in chunks I guess I would say. A couple of months ago she learned to say "I missed you so much" to daddy when he came home.

Today, we were cuddling in bed and she said, "I love you so much."

aw.

"I missed you so much."

huh? I have been by your side for the last 3 weeks.

"I just want to be with you all the time."

okay, you are just patronizing me now.

lol. DD has blessed me a couple of times after sneezing but would much rather bless herself.
