In my husband's family, 8 lbs is the norm, and I personally know four women (at least) who have had at least one 12+ lb baby. All vaginally. MIL's first--FIRST!!!--was 5 kilos. That's 11 lbs. That is nearly twice what my mom had for her first baby, though MIL is much bigger boned than my mom. I voted "10+" because I know a lot of women that have eight or nine pound babies, but all via c-section because the doctors don't believe it's possible to birth a 10 lb baby.

my dd was 11 lbs 10 oz! And 22.5 inches. My ds was the same length, and 12 lbs. Ds was solidly built (still is, he is 7.5 yrs, 80 lbs, and 4'8") but dd had ROLLS on her back and thighs. Oh my. Lol. Dd is now tall and slim, narrow-framed. Looking back, tho ds was the heavier babyh, dd was definitely the fatter baby - ds is built big while dd is built tall and slim....she just porked up in utero lol
