possible miscarriage?

It's been a crazy ride for me!

We've been trying to concieve for 6 months...last month, I had a positive pregnancy test, but a few days later, began to bleed heavily, so I ran to the ER only to be told from their urine test that I was indeed, NOT pregnant at all and that I must be starting my period. I suppose something was wrong with the test. I don't know. I was also told that I had the beginning of a UTI and was given antibiotics. So, I finished my meds and made another attempt at conception the following cycle.....this cycle......I was 4 or 5 days late this cycle and because of my negative experience with the last HPT, I went straight to my doctor and asked for a blood test, which came back positive. I am excited, yet cautiously optimistc. I was just told about the positive result Wednesday. This morning, Friday, I saw a small smear of blood on my underwear and all afternoon, I've been getting pink tinged mucus in small amounts. I have read and been told that a little bleeding is normal during the first trimester, but I'm so sad and nervous. Can anyone tell me if they have had early bleeding in a pregnancy? Also, if anyone has ever had an eaerly miscarriage, what was it like? I don't have any cramping, though I do have a dull lower ache in my back, but honestly, that's normal for me.

Thanks!

I had spotting during the first trimester with both of my pregnancies that sounds similar to what you have described. I have heard that it will commonly happen around the time you have your period and that some people experience it through out pregnancy.

Maybe take it easy until the spotting stops. I think it is a good sign that it isn't heavy bleeding and you aren't experiencing cramping.

Best wishes! Keep us posted.

I sure hope it is normal. I never had any bleeding with my other three pregnancies! They say every pregnancy is different. This one sure is! I was so relaxed with the last three. I never once worried about miscarriage. I was so confident. With this pregnancy, I am nervous and praying like crazy. Over the last 6 months, I was beginning to think maybe more children just weren't in the cards for me and now that I'm pregnant, it doesn't feel real somehow. I'm too nervous to even be excited yet.

I think pregnancy (and TTC) after a miscarriage is a different experience emotionally than pregnancy when you've never miscarried.

I got a BFP in May that resulted in an early miscarriage. Although I'm excited to start trying again this cycle, it's not the same kind of excitement I felt prior to the miscarriage. Even though I know the odds of the next one sticking are in my favor, I worry that it won't. And when I get my next BFP, I'm sure I'll be holding my breath for the first couple months.

With my early miscarriage, I had a weird, achy, heavy feeling in my lower abdomen for about a week, then cramping, then a lot of bleeding. I don't think there was any spotting.

Hang in there! Hopefully this one's nice and sticky!

Yep, had a perfectly blood-free pregnancy with my DS... then my next pregnancy after TTC for 2 years, I had bleeding. Quite a bit of bleeding... more then spotting but less then a period. I went to the ER at just shy of 6 weeks and they did an U/S and we saw her little heart beating away. Too small to measure but the flutter was definitely there and everything looked fine. I went on to spot for another 2 days and then had an appointment a day after it stopped. She did a quick look-see and again, everything was spot on and fine.....

She's 4 now

Good luck and FX that everything is okay!

I bled with my oldest, not too much, but it went on for two or three days. I was on pelvic rest and took vitamin e for awhile. He is 10 now.

I miscarried my last baby in June. The whole pregnancy seemed off to me in the first place, not much morning sickness at all, and usually I am very sick. I lost the baby around 8 weeks. It took 4 days from the time the bleeding started. I was pretty crampy and was in labor the second two of those days, passing lots of clots and the bleeding got heavier. I never saw the baby but I did find the placenta.

Thanks, everyone. It helps to hear other women's stories. My bleeding has increased and is more than the pink tinged mucus now. It's not quite as heavy as a period. I figure I'll wait and see what happens over the weekend and go in on Monday if I feel something isn't right. I'm assuming that if I am having a miscarriage, there is nothing they can do to stop it. I can only pray it all works out ok. It's been so hard. Why does this have to be so hard?

Well, I've been bleeding pretty heavily all day, with clots, so I'm not very optimistic. I have an ultrasound scheduled in about 2 weeks (made before the miscarriage). Not sure if I'll be needing that appointment now.

I want to take a pregnancy test after my bleeding stops and see what it says...how long should I wait for all the hormones to leave my body so that the test is more likely to be accurate? I know I didn't get a reliable result before, but I guess, I'd like to get some answers in the privacy of my home rather than having to go in everytime I need a test.

My precious baby....I'm so sad....

Shouldn't be too long if everything clears out okay. Mine was negative within a week from passing the baby. I don't think I tested earlier than that, so possibly sooner.

I spotted for 7 weeks and everything ended up okay. I also had a friend with clots and it was okay. Good luck though.... . I know it is an awful feeling waiting and I hope your babe is still okay.

Did your friend have heavy bleeding with the clots? I'm amazed that a woman can bleed in such a way and still be pregnant! This is a whole new experience for me. I've had such uneventful pregnancies with absolutely no bleeding up until now. It's just perplexing to me. I will test next weekend, I think and just see.

I used to feel like I knew my body so well and I relied on my instincts for a lot of things......now I don't even trust my own feelings and insticnts....I don't know what's going on! The worst part is I never really felt pregnant (or maybe that's a blessing). I was surprised when I was told I was pregnant because I had only felt mentrual feelings or on good days, no symptoms at all.

I was in church this morning and the choir sang a song about Christ with the words "my life is in your hands" and I couldn't stop some tears from falling. I wiped them away before my girls could see.

She's not a close friend and it was three years ago, but yes, I do believe I was told she had heavy bleeding. I remember being shocked that it ended up okay. She went into the ER because it was so bad. I was pregnant at the same time as she was and remember being surprised how many people had bleeding at all....although this was the only heavy bleeding/clot story I'd heard. Good luck though. How tough. I am glad you have your faith to rely on.

Thanks again, everyone. I go in to see my doctor tomorrow and will get blood work and an ultrasound so we'll see. I'll let you all know the outcome....
