This morning DD and I went to a supermarket not in our area to pick up a few things. We have to take a subway and bus. My back has been bothering me for a couple of days but was fine taking DD without the stroller and I was only getting a few things. Anyway, I got more than a few things because so many unexpected items were on sale. I bit off more than I could chew with the bags but made it through the parking lot to the bus. We maded it to the bus and when it came to our stop, a woman also getting off asked me if we were going to the train and when I told her yes she offered to help carry the bags. I told her thank you. After swiping out metrocard I reached for the bag. Didn't want to take advantage of her offering to help and I could have made it if I had to alone (with a little pain but nothing excruciating). She told me, "oh no. i'll carry the bags and you just worry about the kiddo." I wanted to pick DD up to get up the stairs faster and not wanting to infringe on this womans time. DD was adamant about walking, was asking for a snack and a bunch of other things at once and the very patient woman told me to take my time she wasn't in a rush and she'd be at the top of the stairs waiting for us when we got there. How nice was that?
I take the subway and bus all of the time and usually people are more than happy to knock me down to get to a seat or do something else not very nice so this woman's kindness not only surprised me but really made me feel good. I thanked her profusely. Just wanted to share a nice story.

I can't wait till I'm past having tiny kids and I can go back to being the helper instead of the helpee.
