I also had it sent to me a few weeks ago, by a friend who is as crunchy as me, and I would categorize myself as "moderately crunchy":
I delivered at a hospital and had an epidural.
I CD sometimes (not so much because of the baby seals, but because I got a great deal on some used dipes, and it kills me to spend money on sposies), but mostly can't be bothered with it overnight or when we're out....I work,so my son got bottles of pumped milk, and we switched to plain ol' cow's milk at 1 year. He weaned completely at 15 mo. We have some nice wooden toys, but he loves his noisy plastic toys too.
Basically, we do what feels right, what we can afford financially and what works for us.
That said, I found this cartoon hilarious, and as a PP said, the mommy wars are sooo stupid. I think we all do what we think is best, and what works for us.
And I found this post almost as funny as the cartoon:

Ok, I admit the video made me laugh. I didn't watch the whole thing though because the voices annoyed me.
It reminded me of when we see threads here that are titled something like: "I need ideas on what to feed my 3 yo" In the replies you pretty much always get a few people that have a list like this: Breakfast: Organic yogurt with organic blueberries Local, farm fresh, cage free, chicken egg Organic Milk from a local farmer Lunch: Quesadilla made with gluten free, homemade tortillas, fresh tomatoes from our garden, local, free range chicken, and organic cheese Supper: Grass fed beef Corn from our CSA Mashed potatoes made with organic potatoes, organic butter, sea salt, and organic milk from a local farmer Of course I made that all up, but if you've read the forums for long you know what I mean. The original question had NOTHING to do with where you get the food you feed your 3 yo, so I find it a bit much when people feel they must list every little thing as organic, homemade, locally produced, etc. It just seems like one-upmanship "I feed my child better than you feed yours". ![]() |
