When do they start to chew with their mouthes closed?

Just wondering when I'll get my sanity back

Seriously, when do they stop chewing with their mouthes wide open?

LOL, it'll be a while yet. i have an almost 12 year old dayghter, a 9 year old son and a 28 month old son and i still have to remind my two big kids to please not spray the table with their food because they talk with their mouths full and when they don't talk while eating they chew with their mouths open.
but realisticly, you can tell a child to keep their mouth closed and expect them to do it when they are about 5. i don't think there is any point before then as their mouths are so small and it's simply easier to chew with their mouth open. imagine putting a whole sausage into your mouth and trying to chew it with your mouth closed. well, if you compare size, a slice of sausage in a small childs mouth would be the equivalent of a full sausage in an adults mouth.

DS almost always has chewed with his mouth close. But he spits out half-eaten food all the time so it's still gross to watch him eat lol!!

Mine usually stop around three...before then they just look like they can't interpret lol! But I definitely haven't had to remind them past four yo.
