Caroline Maria: thoughts please

I posted a few months ago to get opinions on the name Caroline Veronica, which I love. I also like (but do not love) Caroline Maria, and have this nagging feeling that it would be a mistake not to go that route since my two grandmothers are Maria and Marianne, and my husband's grandmother is Marija. We also have two Magdalenas and a Maggie in the family, so if we have another girl, some variation of those names would likely be used.

So what do you think?

Caroline Maria
Caroline Marija
Other?

This name just caught me eye. Very pretty.

I actually like the sound of Caroline Marie better than Maria, but they are both nice. Might depend on your last name.

Ooh, Caroline is one of my absolute favorite names! I would definitely have used it already if I didn't hate the way it's pronounced in Swedish ("kah-ro-leen").

I like Caroline Maria best of your options, though I think, too, that Caroline Marie flows a little better.

This is what I was thinking too. I love the name Caroline and like the Caroline Marie combo better but your last name could make a difference too!

I love Caroline Maria. Caroline is one of my all-time favorite names and I'm thinking about it myself--except apparently it's really popular right now? Don't know if that's a consideration for you. But I think Caroline Maria is absolutely beautiful regardless of how popular it might be.

Wow, really? I have not heard that it is popular. I'm quite sure it's not in my area, at least not in the Madison, Jayden/Aidan/Braeden sort of way.

Regarding my last name, it's a 3-syllable slavic name (with and -ic ending, think Yankovic)

I love, love, love the name! I do agree that Caroline Marie flows a little better though. We are planning to name this baby Caroline Mae, if we are having a girl!

Im going to disagree with the other posters. I prefer Caroline Maria. I think it flows well and is slightly more unique than just "Caroline Marie".

Beautiful name!

I like Caroline, but do not like Marie or Maria. Marie is my middle name and I have always hated it becase its really really boring. Sorry.

Veronica on the other hand is awesome.

Yeah, it surprised me, too, because I haven't heard of that many little Carolines. I mean, I don't think it's an Ava or Emma, but I keep seeing it on top-100 lists.

Okay, just looked it up: it is top 100 but like, bottom of the list. Yay!

I like Caroline Magdalena, but I like long names.

how is Marija pronounced?

It's pronounced the same as Maria.
In that case, I like both of them but prefer Marija just for the unique spelling and because I think it would look nice with a slavic last name.

Thanks, I agree

I wouldn't do it for a first name because I think it would be a hassle. But for a middle name, I don't think the different spelling will cause major issues, it's unique and I think it's pretty. Plus my in-laws would be tickled pink.

I like Caroline Maria (or Marija).

Someone one another forum just pointed out to me that it sounds like "Fraulein Maria" from the Sound of Music. LOL. That might bother me if this was a first/last name combo, but I don't think her middle name will be used often enough for it to be a problem.
