How do you store vinyl records?

I just recently got my record player in working order, and dug all our records out of the cardboard boxes in my closet. Right now they are on top of a bookshelf, but it feels precarious, like they could slide off (onto DD's head!). I need something better, where they are accessible, safe, and if possible neat looking. Pictures/links/ideas would be awesome!

Our are on top of our bookcase, too.

Used to be there were cupboards made the right size for records... My grandparents had some. I think you just have to measure them and check out places like Ikea for cupboards/shelves deep enough with tall enough shelves.

I think IKEA's Expedit cubby shelves are the right size. We have ours in a built in cabinet. I think you can get doors and other accessories that work with the Expedit if you want to close them off from prying fingers.

We have an Ikea Expedit. They are perfect.
