What's the current thinking on the timing for starting solids in allergy-prone families? Is there an optimal age for introducing solids or just stick with when he seems developmentally ready? I remember when dd was an infant a lot of people recommended holding off much longer than the 6 month guideline if possible, but then I seem to remember reading years later that attitudes have changed.
Food allergies and asthma run in my dh's side. Dh is allergic to peanuts, dd is allergic to dairy plus both have seasonal and cat allergies. My first ds and I thankfully seem to have been spared. Second ds is 5 months now and I'm starting to think about the solids issue in the next few months. Obviously, I would start him on the low allergenic foods but I'm wondering if sooner or later is better.
