magazines for boys

Anyone know of magazines (general interest ones) for boys out there? My dd is interested in American Girl, Kiki, etc etc and those seem general interest (we currently get some more sciency ones like Yes, and Know, and Click) I am looking for mags that discuss a variety of topics or would be more general....is there a boys equivalent to American Girl, LOL!?

We have also delved into Owl, and Chickadee, but now mostly get them from the library as they have come out, as both the kids and I find them "tacky" , and National Geographic for Kids is just one big advertisement


Ds is 7 by the way, and not really reading beyond some 3 letter words, but likes lots of pics in his mags, and has a good attention span for me reading to him or paraphrasing longer articles as we go along.

my ds likes "ranger rick" and discovery science. those aren't as general as you wanted but he really likes them. i love this question, waiting for other replies....

The Boy Scouts put out a magazine called Boys Life. There is info about subscribing here: http://boyslife.org/home/bl-store/382/subscribe-today/ It does have some advertising in it...

Also, if you don't mind Christian content, Focus on the Family puts out a magazine called Clubhouse Jr and Clubhouse, depending on the age of your kids.

If he likes Lego there is a free Lego magazine that you can order off Lego.com There's not a whole lot of "content" but there's some cool lego ideas and opportunities. My ds really enjoys it.

My 8-year-old non-reading son greatly prefers to peruse my National Geographics to ANY kid magazine that has ever come into the house. MAKE magazine too. . .

We get Ranger Rick, that ds (almost 7) really really likes. I am thinking I will get Cousteau Kids mag, and possibly Highlights this next year.

We get Ranger Rick, Boys' Life, Highlights, and a spin-off of Highlights - Puzzle Mania. We had the same experience with Nat Geo Kids - ALL ADS!

My 10 year old loves the Lego magazine. There's also a subscription you can get for around $40/year where they send a magazine and a Lego set every other month.

Nitenites, the puzzle mania sounds cool, my kids would love it. I'm on Highlites site and they do not list it as a mag you can order. Is it just part of the regular Highlites sub? How do you find the content of Highlites? Thanks.

We have Lego Jr, Lego and zoobooks. Zoobooks is kinda pricey but we got it as a Christmas present. Love those Christmas presents that don't have batteries/noise and add to the clutter!

In addition to the previously mentioned magazines we get Boy's Quest and have recently ordered ASK and Cobblestone.
