Prometrium

I'm on 200mg 3 times a day. My clinic has told me to stop when I'm 10 weeks. I'm nervous about this, but sure am looking forward to not taking them any more. Anyone have experience stopping progesterone cold turkey?

I did go down to a half dose the day I got my BFP but then my clinic had me go off entirely at 10 weeks. It's nerve-wracking but I think it's nerve-wracking no matter WHEN you go off of progesterone!

by then your placenta is producing enough progesterone that it is safe to stop... your levels are much higher than the amount that the prometrium is putting into your system.

It would be fine for many women to stop earlier, they just make you wait that long to be sure your body has more than enough that stopping will not make a difference

I had really really low levels in my unmedicated cycles and was on high doses of progesterone from the day of my embryo transfer, so when they wanted me to go cold turkey at either 10 or 12 weeks (I can't remember which it was now) I insisted on getting my levels rechecked and then doing a quick taper over the course of a week or so instead of stopping all at once. Might be worth asking if you could do that? From everything I've read it should be fine to just stop, but it made me really nervous and seeing that my levels were nice and high was very reassuring.
