Prolonged Flu / Cold ... why?? (CFS??)

I've had the Flu? now for about 6 weeks -

Morning: I wake up with a very nasty chesty cough - I bring up TINY pieces of thick phlem (This could be a chest infection?)
My eyes hurt, itch and I feel like i've had un-refreshing sleep.
I still ache ALL over - Even holding my head up hurts my neck and when I walk my legs and bum ache badly!

Afternoon: Yawn yawn yawn - Tired and still aching all over.
Sneezing fits start, Runny nose (VERY runny!)

Night: Still so tired - but restless when in bed - Can't sleep for hours.
Still sneezing and nose is very runny.
Aching even worse now.

I am breathless most of the time, especially on exertion.

I am asthmatic and inhalers are NOT helping my breathing issues.
I have tried a week of 'rest' but it has NOT helped!

What can I do to try and shake this off?
Is it possibly something else like CFS? (I have wondered this in the past?)

I have phoned the doctors yesterday and the earliest they can fit me in is 2 weeks from now!!!!

I'm guessing as it's been moved to 'Allergies' that someone must think it's an allergy - Care to tell me more information ??

That's how I get this time of year with all the ragweed and mountain cedar pollen. Even using my inhalers I feel like I have an elephant on my chest, I get chest congestion, itchy, watery eyes, sneezing, etc. I feel down right miserable!! Zero energy, etc. Then, inevitably, it turns into a sinus infection for me!

Do you have a fever?? If not, I would definitely think it was allergy related. Are you taking any allergy medicine like claritin or zyrtec to see if that helps? Also, if you're not already, you probably need a steroid type inhaler like Symbicort or Advair. Symbicort works really well for me, but it takes a couple of days for me to get some good relief from it.

Also, I take mucinex for the chest congestion and it helps alot too.

I can't believe your dr. told you they couldn't see you for 2 weeks. Did you ask to talk to a nurse to get a work in appointment? If not, I would or go to an urgent care clinic of some type

I think I do have a fever too - Sometimes I'm really really hot then others I am really really cold!!
I think now I have a chest infection as I'm bringing up thick green phlem (It's not a lot but still, I think it's a sign of infection!)
I have phoned the doctors again today and demanded I am seen sooner so Friday at 09:10am, Hopefully i'll get some help and anti biotics!
I think from all the coughing i've done I have made my throat red raw (been coughing up some blood!)

Will let you know how I get on xx

Hope you feel better soon.....what about pneumonia? I guess only the dr will be able to tell, maybe if you tell your dr this is what you suspect they'll get you in a little faster?
