Yesterday, I ended up going through the drive through for lunch. Technically, this comes out of the weekly allowance I give myself, but I wanted to keep that money for something fun, so it counts as "bad" spending. I walked to go get my son's meds, which are planned spending, but the fast food lunch gets the day an irked smilie.

Today, I spent nothing ... Well, the guy came by to fix our back gutter, but I don't have to pay him yet! I also didn't drive the car anywhere. We did our usual walk to the park, although it's starting to get cold here.

1 - Planned Spending
2 - No spending and no driving! I actually walked to go vote
3 - McDs lunch $5.40 + $3.23 planned spending for my son's meds.
4 - No spending and no driving!

Grocery Spending - 95.91/500
Out to Eat Spending - 0/80
Target Spending - 28.93/150
Other Planned Spending - 0/100 (to be used for sump pump service later this week)
Non-planned Spending - 5.40[/QUOTE]

Yay!!! I had an awesome score today. We have been eating a lot of yogurt lately and I needed more. I went to pick it up at the HFS, and after examining the increased price, I drove to the farm that makes it (like a minute from the store), and ended up with 6 quarts of organic/biodynamic yogurt for $10 and a free quart of organic/biodynamic cream. One quart at the store is 4.69! I feel really good about myself.

Greetings

Hello dear mamas!

I've had my eye on these no-spend threads for a while now, and I'm going to jump in for November, even if it is a little late. From what I've read so far, you are all a very inspiring and admirable group of mamas.

Who I am - I am a SAHM Mom to one toddler boy. My husband works and we are recent college grads.

My Financial Goals
-

1) I have three personal incomes every month. One is an allowance from my husband, one is from babysitting, and one is from my small business. My goal is to not spend this money in the month I receive it. In the past months, I usually spend the money and then put extra charges on my credit card, which means I have to use the next months income for the cards. Vicious, horrible cycle!
2) To Put at least a little in savings, a little in charity, and a little in my retirement account every month. I want my savings account to reach my goal amount. I want to save money for school and my own car!
3) Keep track of money and balance finances better.

How I will Get there -
I created a spreadsheet on GoogleDocs tracking my income vs. expenses. I will not let the expenses get greater than the income and will have to record everything. I will also "pay myself first" by signing up for automatic withdrawal to my retirement and charity. I will put money in my savings every time I go to the gym (the bank is right next door) even if it is only $1.
I will try to save our family money on gas by not driving 2 days a week. I will try to save us money on food by cooking all the things that have been in our pantry for over 2 months.

I bought groceries and filled up the car with gas on the 1st.

1. No Spend! but did drive our car to another city
2. Spent $20 on bus pass for family member, but I get to return it because it wasn't needed! but did drive our car to another city
3. No Spend! Earned a little extra from my business.
4. No Spend! Earned a little extra from babysitting.
5. Need to pay off big credit card bill today.....hope I will have enough.....

Today was payday, so we put most of our monthly allotment into savings. I may end up pulling a little out to cover the rest of the car repair, but I don't yet know what that will be since it's not finished. I had to go back today to point out the noise that it's making, but I paid for the work done so far.

Today's bonus: I scored a free Starbucks from a co-worker by picking up for everyone!

Today was my first day for blowing some money. I don't feel that bad about it though, since it really wasn't for me. I took my mom out to lunch after she rearranged her schedule to watch DS for me while I went back to the eye doc for a follow-up. DH was supposed to do it, but got stuck at work. It'll come out of my "eating out" allotment for this month, so it's not totally unbudgeted, just not really planned for today. We try to use that money for DH and I to go on "dates".

Then I bought myself a Starbucks, since DS slept like CRAP last night. :yawning THAT was unplanned and not quite necessary.

6. groceries, paint for spare room, Christmas cards, $1 for library fines .

The painting supplies were almost $80, but I've been waiting to buy this paint until it went on sale, which it did this weekend. We're painting the spare room as per my daughter's specifications so that we can entice her to move out of the nursery. Her colour choice: "purple palace". My three year old's room is going to look like a brothel .
