How did the Halloween/ Fall Fest Parties (or skipping them!) go?

I'd love to hear how everyone's school stuff worked out! Including those who opted out.

Ours was super fun, but way too much sugar. One of my volunteer things is recess monitor at the end of the day Fri and I could REALLY tell which kids are sugar sensitive. One of the boys always talks to me and it usually like talking to a little adult, but he was swinging in a tree like a monkey. It kinda freaked me out.

My kids had a blast, painted pumpkins, bowled with pumpkins, got those temporary tattoos, etc.

My dd loved hers. They dressed like book characters and got to share their books, did mummy wraps, and had healthy treats. She also had a party at her daycare where they had more traditional Halloween food, colored pumpkins, watched movies, and did art projects.

There were half days and parent teacher conferences Wednesday and Thursday, and no school on Friday, and no Halloween functions put on by the school. We did go to a Haunted Halloween Fun Night for several hours Saturday afternoon, which was sponsored by a couple local businesses and put on by the UAA students at the student union building. We had fun.

I don't think my ds's lower El Montessori class did anything. He is looking forward to upper el next year.

My dd is in upper El and the kids all dressed in costumes from the renaissance period. My dd dressed as a midwife. They toured all the other grades to tell what they dressed as,and give an little bit of history facts. It was either a midwife or Mary Quenn of Scotland.Turned out someone else did Mary,so good thing we picked the midwife.

Then they had their creepy cuisine lunch. This year I just bought supplies, but last year we signed up for desserts along with a few others and we made eyeball doughnuts and gummi rats on glue traps.I thought the glue tap dessert was awesome, but not many got eaten, lol.

After lunch they go to the local private nursing home.Again tell about their costume. Then visit with the eldery person they signed up to visit with. She had a nice day.

My kids had a great time. My 5 yr old had book character dress up day and parade on Friday. She was beaming as "Pinkalicious" from the book by that name. They paraded up to the senior center and back to school. In the evening was the Cakewalk--always a hit. My 12 yr old went to a middle school dance in full costume. There were more festivities throughout the weekend but not school related.

My son, also 12, also had his first dance at school! And he actually danced!
However for some reason they were not allowed to come in costume for safety reasons. He still wanted to trick or treet last night. He was Zorro.
Too much candy I just try and not think about it.

DS' party was great! All healthy snacks except 1 cupcake per child. The kids in grades k-5 do a parade through the neighborhood with costumes on
Then they come back to the class for the party. There were several crafts, halloween word searches/puzzles,etc. going on. The whole celebration lasted about 1.5 hrs.

We skip. No biggie. Same stuff, different day. The art teacher drew a fabulous Iron Man on craft paper for ds to color.

I got a blasted migraine and had to leave the party in my daughter's class right as it would have been starting, but I am told it went well. The kids stuffed a scarecrow, painted mini pumpkins and played games to win prizes. I did see the fruit kabob pumpkin head (fruit face with kabobs of fruit bites sticking out like hair) and it did look super cute and fun.
