Oregon Waldorf Doll Classes??

Does anyone know of any Waldorf doll making classes in or near Portland OR??

I know Shining Star waldorf school does some workshops for crafts, but I don't think I've ever seen dolls. If you find something, please let us know! I'm working on a doll for my dd for Christmas, and some in-person help would be awesome.

That would be a fun class! I have made a couple dolls on my own, and having a more experienced eye would definitely help. I bought a kit the first time and it came with instructions, but some of the techniques seem like it would be better to see it live. Also, it can be tricky to get the right supplies (hopefully a class would have some of those available too). Having the right knit fabric for the head was a huge help compared to when I tried to use flannel...

Some of the places that offer sewing classes in Portland are SewPo, Bolt, PDX Seamsters, Modern Domestic, Portland Sewing and Montevilla. Perhaps one of them could be enticed to offer a class? If enough people are interested perhaps we could do a sew-along with kits at someplace like Portland Green Parenting or Milagros?

You know, there's also a Waldorf supply store on E. Burnside, like around 26th? Maybe if we just wanted to get together in a small group we could meet up there? Or actually, Milagros might be better if we want to bring kiddos. Would there be enough interest (and I would consider the 3 of us enough, if all we want to do is hang out and try to figure it out together without a teacher!) to try it? I'd be willing to host a little doll-making party at my house (NW, PGE Park area), too, if we can all agree not to be afraid of each other . Anyway, I'm really excited to finish my dd's doll by Christmas, so lmk!

The shop on Burnside is Gossamer. They have classes, but I don't see dolls, other than the small felt one. This might be a good place to start for supplies. My dd is getting a little older, so I don't NEED to make a doll, but I wouldn't mind hanging out.

There are lots of MDC mamas (and FB mamas) in PDX. We've been known to get together IRL for MNO, knitting, holiday parties, etc. Some of our kids are older and go to the same schools now. It is a really family friendly city IMHO, but I'm a native

I'll try to check in with you after you move, and if you don't hear from me, pm me! Good luck with moving!

Hi! There is a really sweet store located in the Portland Waldorf School, in Milwaukie, called The Spring Creek Store. They have doll making supplies, wool and lots of fun toys, books and such. They are having a doll making class, I think right now. It was $75 but it includes all of the supplies. I wanted to take it but couldn't make the time. Hope that helps, and happy doll making!
