Does this sound like diastasis recti?

This afternoon I was doing a prenatal Pilates workout and during the core section (on my back, supported by lots of pillows) a big bulge appeared at the top of my belly. It was about the size of a tangerine, didn't hurt, was mushy when I touched it and really freaky looking. It was pretty high up on my belly, kind of in between my ribs.

I've read about diastasis recti but thought it happened lower down. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Should I stop doing core workouts?

It can happen about between your belly button and ribcage. I have it pretty bad and although it doesn't hurt it looks VERY weird. I think once it starts to form sit ups and some other core exercises can make it worse.

mine makes my belly form sort of a peak - like it's a triangle or something. but the peak runs down my entire belly from top to bottom, I think... (I'm not pregnant, currently)

ETA... go to you tube and type in diastasis recti ... you'll get a ton of hits on how to determine if that's what you have going on or not.

Thank you, this is helpful. For a split second I had a horrified thought that the bump rising up out of my belly was her entire head...kind of like Alien!
