Thank you!

My only question is what did you use as a "drying sheet?"  Wax paper, or what?

Midwifery Today has published a very thorough book on placentas:

http://www.midwiferytoday.com/books/placenta.asp

I got to see one of the authors speak at a MT conference. She has done a lot of work using placenta as homeopathic remedy for many issues besides postpartum healing.

I know a woman whose daughter is autistic. She has benefited greatly from placenta therapy! It is such a powerful gift!

I am a birth doula and I offer a placenta preparation service, although I haven't had anybody ask for it yet! When my best friend had an unassisted homebirth (magical, powerful, transformative!) her partner baked the placenta at about 250 with some garlic and other herbs. She ate some of it after it cooked, and then he encapsulated the rest. I am not sure about how to process it at lower heat to preserve enzymes but I am excited to learn about it. I'll post more when the book arrives.

Yay to all the placenta-loving mamas!

i just cut mine into 14 chunks and froze.  i used 2 chucks with milk and strawberry protein shake for 7 days.

I encapsulated mine and honestly wish I had just frozen chunks for smoothies. So much easier and you can't taste it at all. Dh made me a placenta smoothie right after my last birth and then the next day, as well. Then I encapsulated the rest and it was a big mess and bit PITA.

oh wow, good to know that you felt that way. I was torn betweeen using it in smoothies (I love smoothies every  morning) or encapsulating it. I think it would be easier to just freeze and use it too.

I encapsulated mine but only used the pills for maybe a week or two. I still have a bunch left. I think this time I'll make smoothies until its gone and/or make a placenta print.
