What is this?

Is it GD? Is it like Circle of Security?

Or just : old school - discipline in a new jacket???

They discourage spanking, but seem to condone time-outs. Though they do seem to encourage logical consequences, which is why I can't understand the time-outs. They also encourage ignoring and time-outs for tantrums. I honestly think it's probably better than many programs and books, but I wouldn't consider it gentle discipline. They use phrases that make it seem like a very adversarial type relationship while also stating that they want a good relationship. So I would say, if you are looking at it to use, use it but beware of the more harsh disciplines they suggest.

It is more, here in Holland, the Netherlands, the institute you take (or can take) your baby and child to to get measured, weight, etc, they are implying and telling us about this program, but I do not really like it...

I want to know, if it is "gentle or AP, or defini. not?

Doesn't sound very gentle discipline to me. Ignoring and time-outs for tantrums is not AP at all because it's not responding to the child's emotional needs.

Reading through some of the theoretical basis, the focus seems to be giving parents something other than shouting, threatening or spanking to use. So the program is for improving and preventing bad parental practices, maybe even preventing child abuse, not a guide for some one who's trying to have a non-adversarial co-operative relationship with their children.

Yes, it's a child protection parent-training approach.
