DS is six months old today. DH and I want to do a little something special to commemorate the day with ds when we're all home together after work and daycare tonight but we have no clue on what to do. We haven't started solids yet so food-type treats are out. It's cold up here and it'll be dark out by the time ds and I get home so doing something outdoors like a trip to the park is also out. Any ideas?

We do a photoshoot every month on the 6th, so that is what we did on my daughter's sixth monthiversary.

IDK, maybe something kind of mellow like sing a special song to him or light a candle for him (out of his reach!!). Or you could buy a special outfit for him and dress him up a little. Or make hand and foot prints to commemorate the occasion (and give one set to the grandparents!).

I write my kids birthday cards every year and I start at 6 months. I'm saving them for when they are grown. Basically I end up filling every blank space on the card with info about them at the time - what they like to do, what makes them laugh/smile, what we did for their special day, what milestones they have reached - all the little stuff you are likely to forget as years go by. I also tend to do a card at Christmas and Valentine's Day as well, but I am almost always late in writing them. I need to do my 6 month old's card, she turns 7 months in 10 days!
I also take a picture of them wearing one of my dresses (the one I wore to my wedding rehearsal dinner) and I start this at 6 months as well. I'll continue to do it each year until the dress fits them. I got the idea from a magazine - for boys you can do one of dad's dress shirts. It is neat to see how much my oldest has grown in just 4 years.

And we also do the pictures each month. I just printed out a paper from my computer that says I am x months old today. I tape the paper to her rocking chair and take photos there each month, pics of her alone and with a certain teddy bear to see how much she has grown over the course of a year.

I read the title of your thread and thought "Gotta be a first baby."
By the time my third baby came along, I was doing good to remember the actual birthday.
Congrats on your LO's half birthday! I think taking some pics and having quality family cuddle time should be a great way to celebrate.
